a wonderful insight, horrible binding.

i think this book goes some ways into showing people that not only was rozz a very talented musician, but his best work was done with audial and visual arts. if you do buy this book be forewarned that it is obviously not just a few of these books that fall apart. it seems to be all of them, so if you don't want to keep re-ordering this book, then plan to spend a few dollars on rebinding it. the origonal binding seems to be some cheap foam-like glue. myself and my wife are having ours hardbound for around $60. very good investment though. if you are interested in surrealist art or the music and artistic endeavors of mr. williams this book will not in any way dissappoint.

This book is an excellent source for anyone who wants to remember Rozz Williams, to learn more about this pioneering artist, or to understand the origins of Christian Death. The book has sections on each of Rozz's musical projects and includes pictures, lyrics, and brief background information for each era, as well as poems, mixed-media collages, and a pretty good discography that includes many imports and singles.

First I should mention... the book did fall apart upon first viewing and now everytime I look at it I have to be extremely careful and alert at how the book is being handled. However, when one gets past this sorry state of affairs regarding the fragility of the book, one can not help but be impressed by its content: photo's, artwork, gig flyers, poetry, lyrics, commentary, tour dates, release dates. Indeed Nico B has put together as complete a package of Rozz Williams brief life possible. Any fan of Rozz Williams the artist would be pleased with this book which displays the creative genius and abilities of the man impeccably

If you have prior knowledge about two stroke engines, this book is all you need for fixing your MZ, if it is made between 1969 and 1986. It simply shows in detail how to dismantle and reassemble all parts of all MZ models made between 1969 and 1986. It also gives all the technical specifications you need. If you have no prior knowledge about two stroke engines this book is probably not sufficient literature, for you to fix your MZ. Even though the book lists some symptions and the cure, you should in general be able to diagnose what is wrong with your bike yourself, if you want to fix everything yourself. My conclusions are therefore, that this book is the book you need, if you have prior knoweldge about two stroke engines, and are determined to do all mending yourself, or if you are a beginner who are willing to take your bike to a mechanic, when you are unable to dertermine what is wrong with your bike.

Terrible book unless you're only interested in North American regions

This book is horrible, I used it as a source for one of my geology presentations and all the information I got from it concerning the Arabian plate was wrong. Several of my classmates used it too because they, like I, thought we had found the perfect book. The professor came up to us individually and let us know we all had severely wrong statements in our presentations. I suggest that if you buy this book, you should cross check EVERYTHING with multiple sources. Which kind of defeats the purpose of buying the book in the first place.

This is highly recommended for anyone with an interest in geomorphology. A great overview of mega-landforms around the world, what used to be characterized as "physiography"; geomorphology at a coarse, broad scale. Where are the mountains ranges, plateaus, and plains regions of the world? This book answers those questions, providing explanations for these broad patterns across the globe (plate tectonics, etc). Great great book. Great!

This book delivers a good perspective on how LCA fits into latent variable modeling in general and on the basics of LCA's mathematical scheme which were insightful. The computer-based examples are quite dated and aren't likely to allow the reader to put down the book and do an LCA right after reading (at least if you're using a latent variable modeling program; e.g., Mplus, etc...)

Zona Hayes-Morrow is a successful business woman, mother, bible teacher and Executive Director of Norvel Hayes Ministries. Founder of Women Of Worship, Action Faith Ministries which are both located in Cleveland TN, Vice president of NHM, Director & Dean of New Life Bible College, and Senior Pastor of New Life Bible Church. Zona works side by side with her father Dr. Norvel Hayes in delivering the word of God with authority and power. When not busy fulfilling these responsibilities, Zona is traveling and ministering wherever the Lord leads her. She has a tremendous testimony of how the Lord has delivered her from numerous diseases, such as lupus and kidney failure. Her burden is to see God's power set people free, while meeting their needs. ANDREA A. LUNSFORD is professor of English at Stanford University and also teaches at the Bread Loaf School of English. A past chair of the CCCC, she has won the major publication awards in both the CCCC and MLA. For Bedford/St. Martin's, she is the author of the St. Martin's Handbook (2007); Easy Writer (2006); The Everyday Writer (2005); The Presence of Others (2004), with John Ruszkiewicz; and Everything's an Argument with Readings (2007), with John Ruszkiewicz and Keith Walters.


JOHN J. RUSZKIEWICZ is professor of rhetoric and composition and director of the division of rhetoric and composition at the University of Texas at Austin. Arguing with Everything

This book starts with the standards of rhetoric laid down by Aristotle over two milennia ago. It explains the kinds, purposes, and conventions of classical argument in a vernacular English that contemporary teachers will be able to expound upon, and students will be able to comprehend. In essence, it brings Aristotle up to date without losing the unity that makes him worth studying to this day.

Unfortunately, only a small number of the chapters contain any examples of how this works in actual usage. To be really useful, this book needs readings. There is a larger edition with actual examples of rhetoric in use, but I naively thought my students would be happier with a slimmer, less expensive volume. Shame on me. I found myself running around all hell to breakfast, trying to find articles and essays that would exemplify the rules and notions of rhetoric for my students, hoping what I found (often on the fly) would actually be useful.

I like the layout and arrangement of this book. As far as it's useful, it's also informative and enlightening. But the more expanded version ought to be more useful to freshman composition students. Next semester, I will have my students buy the more expensive "with readings" edition, which will make my life easier, and theirs too, since they won't have to keep track of all my hasty photocopies.

A Solid Resource for Persuasive Writing

This book is designed to be an undergraduate-level textbook in persuasive writing. I read the book to see if I wanted to use it as a textbook for one of my classes. I think it's a very good textbook.

Part One introduces the types of arguments and various forums, as well as introducing the importance of context in persuasive writing -- it really matters who you are speaking to.

Part two covers the specific kinds of arguments in depth - arguments from the heart (humor and emotion), and those based on character, values, and facts.

Part Three is the meatiest portion of the book, addressing the structure of arguments, such as Toulmin analysis, arguments of definition, evaluation, cause, proposals, and humor.

Part Four deals with the style used in perfecting one's argument in written language, visual presentation, and spoken performances.

Part Five is shorter and discusses issues related to evidence, fallacious arguments (such as ad hominem attacks or slippery slope arguments), and intellectual property issues.

I like the clear writing style of the book and the informative explanation. The best part of the book, however, is the excerpts and examples. They are modern, relevant, engaging, and the students will enjoy reading and analyzing them. The chapter on Fallacies of Argument was also very strong, as well as the issues related to evidence.

Some things I did not like were the review questions at the end, some of which seemed ambiguous and overly time-consuming. Also, though the title is catchy, I do not accept that EVERYTHING is an argument -- the "Buckle-up" sign on the highway is just a sign.

That being said, I think EAA can be used as an effective textbook if certain sections are used instead of the entire book. Also, more in-depth analysis of Toulmin arguments might be examined in other sources, as it is treated somewhat lightly here. Overall, however, it can be a strong resource to help teach persuasive writing.

An encyclopedia hiding inside a textbook

This college textbook is in its fourth edition - doubling in size from 300 to 600 pages. The extensive index makes it useful as an auxiliary resource or even a stand alone.
The work is an encyclopedia on the subject of rhetoric. It is the first work on the subject that I have seen that includes `signifying' - a humorous style of African-American argument. In addition it includes the bones of a research handbook and the basics of Strunk & White. Unfortunately, it fails the Strunk & White goal of brevity. Making up for this in a great way is the section on citing almost every kind of resource in the MLA style. Even today there are MLA handbooks that omit instructions on how to cite articles that skip pages, how to quote from indirect pages or many other media other than print. The format is intensely visual which speaks well to the image rich environment in which we live. Visuals are key to instructing but shorten the life span of the work. In ten years, will a photo of Lil' Kim create the same learning opportunity as it does today? The book has a companion website which provides check lists for writing and research that are also covered in the book. The website checklists are much easier to use. Typically colleges do not include textbooks in their collections, but I would argue that this is one to break the rules for because of its high usefulness as a stand alone resource.
